Master Sommelier (and proud New Jersey-native) Jon Ross first traveled Down Under in 2017 to work in the Australian hospitality industry as the Beverage Director for the world-renowned Rockpool Group. But Jon soon found himself wanting to get into the creative side of the wine world.
Jon has always believed that work as a Sommelier placed him firmly within the Hospitality industry--not the Wine industry-- and that finally creating his own wine from scratch would let him understand wine in a way different from ~20 year career in the Front of House.
Purchasing grapes from organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards, Jon made his first vintage in 2018, focusing on Australia's unique expressions of Shiraz and Cinsault. Cara & Simi first tasted these wines almost a year ago, when Jon shared some suitcase bottles he had packed while visiting San Francisco. We were so enamored by the wines, we've been hounding him since then to get them into the Bay Area!
