LINEAR & MINERAL
BIODYNAMIC FARMING
WOMAN-MADE

Dominique Moreau has been making single varietal, single vineyard, single vintage, no dosage Champagnes from her tiny 2.5 ha estate since 2005. The vines were planted in the 1970's from massale selection and are farmed organically & biodynamically. Located in Champagne's southernmost region, the Côte-de-Bars, is closer to Chablis than Reims, has the same Kimmeridgian limestone as Chablis. The region's warmer temperatures and Kimmeridgian soils excel at making Pinot Noir which is rich and textured while retaining acidity and freshness. Dominique named the estate after her grandmother, Marie Courtin, who Dominique recalls as a strong woman of the earth.

  • Winemaker: Dominique Moreau
  • Farming: Biodynamic
  • Variety: 100% Pinot Noir from massale selection clones
  • Terroir: Single parcel in Polisot, Cote de Bars (Aube), on Kimmeridgian limestone.
  • Vinification: Stainless steel using native yeasts for primary and secondary fermentations
  • Aging: Aged in stainless and bottled with no dosage. Aged 2 years on lees.
  • Tasting notes: Mouth-watering salinity, and flint gives way to lemon pith, underripe red apples, white strawberry, and a whisper of chive. Linear and reductive, but does open with a bit more rounded character in this base vintage.
