Focused on regeneratively farming tiny vineyards in Napa Valley and minimalist winemaking, James and Lorenza Allen channel their global experiences to make wines with balance, substance, and soul. They believe the accents of wine are best revealed by understanding its roots. Their global wanderlust has taken them to six different wine universities and twenty wineries across fifteen regions (in 7 countries), where they've learned from the wisdom of winemaking masters and honed their individual styles. But it wasn't until they met while studying in France that the real magic happened. Friendship led to romance and a quick wedding on the vineyard one warm harvest evening. Since then, they’ve collaborated on every grape, wine, and label.
- Winemaker: James and Lorenza Allen
- Farming: Organic, Regenerative
- Variety: Verdelho (suitcase clones from the island of Madeira)
- Terroir: Tom Morgan’s Evina Vineyard, a sandy vineyard surrounded by nut and fruit orchards.
- Vinification: After Lorenza foot-tread a portion of the grapes and left them to macerate, the whole cluster-pressed juice was split into three fractions: stainless tank, stainless barrels, and neutral oak barrels. The skin-contact portion was barreled-down to neutral oak later. Slow, spontaneous fermentations in the different vessels.
- Tasting Note: Soft and crisp with fragrant chamomile, jasmine, oyster shell, meringue, and lemon zest.
