Alain Gras 2017 Saint-Romain Rouge, Burgundy

Alain Gras has been working passionately since 1979 with a great respect for the land. Despite its young age, his domaine has quickly established itself as the standard-bearer for the village of Saint-Romain. It now extends over 30 acres, primarily located in Saint-Romain, Meursault, and Auxey-Duresses. Vinified with care and using traditional methods, the domaine’s wines exemplify the character of this terroir, which Alain Gras sums up in three words: fresh, fruity, and elegant.

Winemakers: Alain & Arthur Gras

Varieties: Pinot Noir

Farming: Sustainable

Terroir: Clay and limestone soils, with an average vine age of 35 years.

Vinification: 100% de-stemmed. Temperature controlled fermentation on the skins for 12 to 15 days. Daily pump-over and punch-down. Pneumatically pressed.

Aging: Aged in oak (15% new). Bottled after 12 months.

Tasting Notes: Bright and expressive, this approachable red Burgundy throws aromas of red cherry, fresh currant a touch of oak, and just a slight bite of tannin. Pairs well with lighter meats and vegetable dishes or all kinds.
