Anthony & David Girard 2018 "Les Monts Damnes" Sancerre, Loire Valley, France

Anthony and David Girard are the fourth generation of their family to run the winery that was first started by their great-grandfather Serge Renard. In 2007, they took over from their mother Sylvie, who still today assists with harvest, but has taken a step back from other day-to-day tasks.

Winemakers: Anthony & David Girard

Grapes: 100% Sauvignon Blanc

Terroir: 30-70+ year old vines in the village of Bué. Grown on caillotes, terres blanches, and silex at 300-330m altitude. All harvested from "Les Monts Damnes," known for its steep inclines and concentrated minerality.

Vinification: Hand harvested, indigenous yeast and fermented and aged in tank.

Tasting Notes: An electric Sauvignon Blanc from the famed vineyard of Les Montes Damnes ("The Damed Mountain"), this light to medium bodied wine zings with lime zest, jasmine flower, underripe green melon and intensely dusty mineral notes of crushed oyster shell and chalk.
