Brundlmayer 2019 "Kamptaler Terrassen" Gruner Veltliner, Kamptal, Austria (375ml - Half Bottle)
Bründlmayer 2019 "Kamptaler Terrassen" Grüner Veltliner, Kamptal, Austria (375ml)
Bründlmayer, which holds some of the oldest vines in the Kamptal, uses only organic fertilizers in their vineyards, and cover crops are planted between rows. During harvest, multiple selections through the vineyard are made, as botrytis is never accepted. Grapes are never de-stemmed or crushed, and they are handled as minimally as possible. A tiny portion of grapes are held back, de-stemmed and macerated for 12 hours; Willi uses these as ‘seasoning’ during blending to add another dimension and tonality to the final wines.
Winemaker: Willi Bründlmayer
Farming: Organic & Biodynamic
Terroir: This Grüner Veltliner is a blend of wines sourced from different terraced vineyards.. The elevated terraces consist of stonier soils that bring fruit-driven wines with mineral nuances and good aging potential. The vines from lower sited terraces grow partly on layered fertile loess and bring earlier maturing wines that are very expressive in their youth. Soils are Primary rock, Loess, Clay at 260-380m elevation.
Vinification: Fermentation in stainless steel and left on the fine lees until the following spring when the wines are bottled.
