Damijan 2014 Ribolla Gialla, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy

Winemaker: Damijan Podversic

Farming: Certified Organic; Biodynamic

Varieties: 100% Ribolla Gialla

Soil / Terroir: Monte Calvario vineyard, south facing, planted in marl and rocky soils.

Vinification: Native yeast, fermented on the skins in in small conical oak barrels for 60-90 days. After fermentation, it is aged in barrels of 20 and 30 hl for 23 months
and refined in bottle for 6 months. The sediment in the bottle serves to
preserve and protect the wine. All Damijan wines are held back at the winery until ready to be released.

Tasting Notes: Medium-bodied and layered with complexity, this slightly aged Ribolla Gialla gives generous notes of dried apricot, Alphonso mango, freshly cut marigolds and golden raisins, with a long, dry finish.
Damijan Podversic pursues natural winemaking, which he learned from the great Friulian producer Josko Gravner, one of Europe's OG's. He has quickly come into his own, bottling wines that are revered as some of the best in Italy's natural wine movement.
