Domaine de Marchandise 2016, Rouge, Côtes de Provence, France
Domaine de Marchandise 2016, Rouge, Côtes de Provence AOC
Located in the hills between Cannes and Saint Tropez, along France’s Mediterrannean coast, is Domaine de Marchandise. Seeing an over-commercialization of the region’s vineyards, the winery was started in the 70s by two brothers looking to return to simplistic, authentic and nuanced styles of rustic Provençal wines. This blend of Syrah, old vine Carignan, Mourvedre and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Carignan is fermented via carbonic fermentation to preserve brightness and soften the tannins before blending with the other varieties, which are fermented in tank before elevage in barrel.
Syrah (30-35%), Cabernet-sauvignon (10-15%), vieux Carignans (30-35%), Mourvèdre (15-30%).
