René & Thérèse Lamy-Pillot’s winery is located in the heart of the village of Chassagne-Montrachet and his family have been winegrowers here since the middle of the 17th Century. Renés brother is the famed Hubert Lamy, and they have elevated the region with marvelous interpretations of Saint-Aubin crus.

Lamy-Pillot own 22 hectares of vineyards, mostly in the appellations of Saint-Aubin and Chassagne Montrachet, producing both white and red wines. They are also part of the 15 only privileged proprietors of the most prestigious Cotes de Beaune Grand Cru: Le Montrachet, with 0.0542 hectare making around 300 bottles each year. Florence and Karine, René and Thérèse Lamy-Pillot’s daughters, and their husbands Sébastien and Daniel, have joined them on the estate.

  • Winemaker: Lamy-Pillot Family
  • Grapes: Chardonnay
  • Farming: Sustainable
  • Terroir: The total appellation is 5.65 acres on a gradual slope. The red soil on the top is porous, shallow with small stones overlying bedrock but gets deeper lower down the slope where the soil is white, heavy, compacted and clayey.
  • Vinification: Hand harvested in small crates to avoid premature squeeze during transportation to the winery and then hand sorted in a dark atmosphere with neon light on the table to distinguish the maturation color of each grapes and eliminate the unripe or rotten ones.
  • Aging: 12 to 18 months (varies each vintages) in barrels with only 25% new oak, from different areas of France and Eastern Europe.
  • Tasting Notes: Intense but elegant aromas of hawthorn flower, apricot, almond and rare spices. Opulent, rich and unctuous with less minerals than its neighbors. Very round palate, beautiful structure with relatively high acidity lending great character to the wine.
