WINEMAKER: Mrs. Dessilava ‘Desi’ Baicheva

FARMING: Sustainable & partially certified organic

VARIETIES: Pinot Noir

VINEYARD/TERROIR NOTES:

The vineyards are located on the slope heading down to the village of Elenovo. The physical and chemical composition of the soil, the soil layers, the microclimate that is created between the hilly area located more than 400 meters above the sea level on Saint Ilia hill, give the area all necessary for the production of high-quality wines.

The average spring and autumn temperatures are low and are characterized by big temperature differences. The average quantity of rainfall favors the cultivation of the vineyards. Summers are warm, but not muggy and with low humidity.

Edoardo Miroglio is a Bulgarian winery founded in 2002 by the Italian entrepreneur Edoardo Miroglio, owner of Tenuta Carreta in Piobesi d’Alba.  The winery is situated in South East Bulgaria near Elenovo Village in the Thracian Lowlands. The total estate area is 1200 ha, out of which 160 ha are vineyards, planted with selected clones of international and indigenous Bulgarian grape varieties. The winery has the capacity to produce 1.5 million bottles per year. As of 2013 part of the vineyards were certified as Farming_Organic, currently producing three organic wines (white, rosé, red), made from Viognier, Traminer, Bouquet, Mavrud and Rubin grape varieties. The head winemaker is assisted by the world renowned consultant Marco Monchiero and viticulturist Alberto La Rosa from Italy.

VINIFICATION NOTES: Aged 24 months on the lees and made in the traditional Champagne method. Dosage is 9.1g/l. Only 14,000 bottles produced.
