Foxen 2017 'Cuvée Jeanne Marie' Williamson-Doré Vineyard Grenache Blend, Los Olivos Dist., Santa Barbara, CA
Founded in 1985 by Bill Wathen and Dick Doré. Sustainably farmed since 1989 and solar-powered since 2009, Foxen has been a leader in minimalist, small-production, vineyard-designated wines of Santa Barbara.
Named for William Benjamin Foxen, proprietor Dick Doré's great-great-grandfather and English sea captain who purchased Rancho Tinaquaic as part of a Mexican Land Grant that totalled nearly 9,000 acres (and became part of Foxen Canyon).

Terroir: Heavy, shallow, nutrient-poor gravel soils
Variety: 70% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre Single vineyard wine, planted in 1999.
Vinification: Each variety is hand-harvested and fermented separately. Whole berry-destemmed, 3-day cold soak.
Aging: Aged 18 months in neutral 228L French oak barrels. 320 cases produced.
