Heron 2018 Sauvignon Blanc, Mendocino County, CA
Heron’s philosophy and wines are direct reflections of Laely’s spirit – pioneering, adventurous, daring, smart, adaptable, thrill seeking, irreverent, non-traditional and international.
Winemaker: Laely Heron
Variety: Sauvignon Blanc
Terroir: Hopland, Mendocino (90%) & Yountville, Napa Valley (10%). Hopland is home to ideal Sauvignon Blanc growing conditions, where warm daytime temperatures give way to unusually cool nights – a combination that allows Sauvignon Blanc to achieve maximum ripeness while retaining varietal character and great acidity. Yountville, slightly warmer than Carneros and slightly cooler than St Helena, has great drainage with clay-loam soils. This cool microclimate is known for vibrant fruit and balanced acidity.
Vinification: Whole fruit to press, no ML, unoaked
Aging: Stainless Streel
Tasting Note: Fragrant Meyer lemon, tangerine, honeysuckle, and hints of lemongrass. Mouthwatering white peach, lime zest, and lemon tart. Crisp and clean, the finish is a mélange of citrus with good minerality and balanced acidity.
