Jean-Louis Dutraive 2017 "Carolon" Fleurie, Beaujolais

This cuvée is produced from grapes purchased from a single parcel in Fleurie. Carolon is located at the northwest of the appellation and has granite terroir with very shallow soil. The vineyard is very steep with southwest facing vines. The highest are at 450-470m altitude and are farmed conventionally. The grapes were vinified in concrete tanks and then aged in 60 hL oak foudres for 6 months.

They harvested these conventionally-farmed purchased grapes, and vinified them using the same methods as the domaine wines: Hand harvested in 20 kg cases

Cold storage 7-8º C

Carbonic maceration

Natural yeast

No SO2 during vinification and elevage

Unfined and Unfiltered

No or little (10 mg/l) SO2 at blending

Domaine de la Grand’Cour is a 11.5 hectare property owned by the Dutraive Family which produces 100% Gamay wines from their vineyards in 2 appellations: Fleurie (9.8hectares) and Brouilly (1.7 hectares).

The organically farmed vineyards have been certified since 2009.
