Manincor 2017 "Réserve del Conte", Vigneti delle Domoniti Rosso, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy

Farming: Biodynamic

Varieties: 35% Lagrein, 40% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc

The Manincor Estate was established over 400 years ago in the hills of Alto Adige in northern Italy. Today, the estate is overseen by Count Michael Goess-Enzenberg and his wife. The Enzenbergs have been among the most prominent Tyrolean families for 800 years, and Count Michael has reinvested into the longevity of the estate by building a brand new winery in 2004, when he also launched the endeavor to covert the entire estate to Biodynamics, which he has now completed.

Terroir: Manincor's Réserve del Conte comes from vines grown in sandy-clay soils on the warm banks of the Lago di Caldaro Kalterer See.

Vinification:Once harvested, each parcel's fruit is crushed separately, then undergoes native yeast fermentation in a mixture of oak, cement vats, and stainless steel tanks. Skin contact lasted about ten days, with punch-downs occurring regularly to extract tannin and create a velvety but assertive structure.

Aging: Aged for one year in a mixture of barrels.
