Peay Vineyards 2017 "Pomarium" Estate Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, CA [375ml Half Bottle]
Based in the west Sonoma Coast, Peay Vineyards focuses on terroir-driven, single variety wines that underscore the beautiful expressions of the coastline's rugged terroir.
Winemaker: Vanessa Wong
Farming: Practicing organic
Varieties: Pinot Noir (667 and Calera clones)
Terroir / Soil: 4 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean, with a strong cool climate influence. Uplifted ancient seabed, mingles with sandy loam and hints of clay.
Vinification: All clones from single vineyards are tasted blindly out of barrel to create the best possible blend from the vineyard that expresses its terroir in that vintage. 8% whole cluster.
Aging: On lees for 11 months in 28% new French oak barrels. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Notes: Darker fruits dominate this structured and brooding Pinot Noir--dense plums and blackberries mingle with spiced notes like anise and sandalwood, while the wine lasts long on the palate. An age worthy and stunning Sonoma Coast Pinot that can be enjoyed now or laid down in the cellar.
