Terroir: This Cinsault fruit was harvested exclusively from The Withers' hilly El Dorado County Estate Vineyard high above Placerville at 2,900 feet, managed by Goldbud Farms. This spectacular site features copious amounts of granite schist, generous amounts of minerals, and red volcanic solis atop decomposed slate.

Vinification: The grapes were harvested in the cool Sierra Foothills evenings and brought to the winery in Healdsburg. After a cold soak, they were fermented in small lots with ambient yeasts and 40% whole clusters. There was no new oak used. Barrels were 10-20 year old French oak, featuring coopers Remond and Francois Frères. The wines were bottled after 16 months in barrel.

Tasting Notes: Very yummy. Aromatics, textures and flavors of logan berries, raspberries, and bright bing cherry make this wine juicy, fresh and thirst-quenching. The wine finishes with zippy acidity to complement the bright fruit, and will benefit from decanting if drinking now, but should last 8-12+ years in the cellar. It pairs beautifully with fowl, meat, savory pasta and richer bodied seafood.
