Weingut Dautel 2017 Estate Weissburgunder, Württemberg, Germany
Weingut Dautel 2017 Estate Weissburgunder, Württemberg
The Dautel family is a leading producer in the lesser known Württemberg region in Southwest Germany, with over 500 years of viticulture history. Weissburgunder is the German name for Pinot Blanc, which thrives on the gypsum and sandstone soils of the two Gross Gewach quality estate sites from which this fruit is sourced. This particular bottling wasn’t destemmed before it was crushed, and spent a small amount of time fermenting with skin contact. Ernst Dautel was one of the first producers in the Württemberg to leave the co-op system to estate bottle his wines, which are now made by his son Christian. Dautel farms organically to make true expressions of the varieties and historic estate sites.
