With over 500 years of viticultural history, the Dautel family is a leading producer in the lesser known Württemberg region in Southwest Germany. Spätburgunder is the German name for Pinot Noir, which thrives on the gypsum and sandstone soils from which this fruit is sourced. Ernst Dautel was one of the first producers in the Württemberg to leave the co-op system to estate bottle his wines, which are now made by his son Christian. Dautel farms organically to make true expressions of the varieties and historic estate sites.
