Wild woman wine. I think that can aptly describe the creations of Birgit Wiederstein. Birgit’s vines (and 280-year-old cellar) are in Göttlesbrunn, the center of the undervalued Carnuntum wine region of Austria. Birgit believes in natural beauty. For these reasons, she works completely biodynamically, allowing the vineyard and the vines to show their best side without any makeup. “Ein Traum” means “A Dream”, and with this wine, Birgit invites you to get lost in your daydreams, be inspired, and find pleasure. -Cara P.

Soil / Terroir: Clay limestone
Vinification: Minimalist. The grapes are hand harvested. Completely hand-harvested, destemmed, barefoot-stomped (with her size 41s!) and fermented with their own natural yeast. After fermentation, she stores her wines in used barriques and big old oak barrels for nearly a year to soften the edges of the Merlot.
Tasting Notes: Beautiful, soft, and approachable, this elegant red wine is both fruit and earthy, with just a hint of grip on the palate, and a long lifted finish of red fruits and florals. A quaffer that can be enjoyed at any time of day with nearly any food.
