Terroir: Wines bearing the name of DÜRNSTEIN refer to the designation of origin of some fabulous village wines. Under this name they bottle wines from grapes hand-picked from a selection of terraced mountain vineyards. The grapes derive predominantly from younger plots, or from sites not harvested for a “Ried” single-vineyard growth wine, and from vineyards in the plains around the municipality of Dürnstein. This vineyard blend is enticing and invigorating, with sappy and subtle mineral characters.
Vinification: Multi-pass manual picking of premium-quality, physiologically highly ripe grapes; careful grape processing, and traditional upbringing of the wines in large oak casks; and aiming for naturalness and distinctiveness by doing consistently without chaptalization, fining and concentration. Bottled in April and partly from the first pickings in the terraces of the top vineyards and partly from the latest picking on the valley floor
